Not even Man of the Match? Really?

Close to 40,000 people inside the cricket stadium in Ahmedabad booed Ricky Ponting when he came up to talk to Ravi Shastri at the post-match presentation. I will never, ever be able to forget that. Nineteen months ago to the day, I'd said that I'd remember forever the ovation Ponting received from English cricket fans when he came out to bat for the last time for Australia in a Test match in England.

However, with every minute that has passed since the former happened, it is slowly dawning on me that remembering something forever and never, ever being able to forget something are two entirely different things.

Yup,it's the end of the road for ricky.Poor chap,he realized a tad too late that this would be his last world cup as player and captain. The teary eyed emotions shown by him at the post-match presentation said it all.

Aussie cricket is in a turmoil which has reached a point of no return. As Dean Jones pointed out,the reason for the aussie debacle is due to their falling standards in their first class Sheffield Shield division system which has to be reviewed upon.

And guess who's smiling in the Indian dressing room? Nope, not Gary Kirsten, but Md. Haneef of the 'Case of the exploding mangoes' fame saying "It's payback time"!!

Reporter:Pakistan play their semifinal match against India at Mohali. How bigger can the rivalry get?

Gavaskar:I think that Pakistan team getting a visa to travel to mumbai would be a bigger headache for them than playing India at Mohali.Let them come to Mumbai first,we'll see about the rivalry later...

Yuvraj Singh would be my bet on being nominated as the Best Player of the tournament irrespective of whether or not India makes it to the final.

Perhaps due to the growing popularity of Aussie rules football, cricket has taken a backseat in Australia.Having an offer to play for Australia on a Border-Gavaskar Scholarship seems a lot less enticing these days.

Wonder why the Aussies were seen wearing red ribbons in the quarters against India yesterday?
Surely,it was not a good omen..Ha Ha..Ricky Ponting - The gentleman cricketer who never walked after a nick - R.I.P

Live by the sword, die by the sword...it's hard to feel sympathy for such an ungracious, petulant man. A great player, no doubt. A great sportsman, probably not.

Yuvraj Singh has 4 man of the match awards in this world cup, more than any player in the tournament.

Felt sorry for Yousuf Pathan. His batting apart I feel that his off spinners are of a better variety than Suresh Raina.I somehow find the Kapil Dev charm in Pathan who was picked up in the IPL IV auction by the KKR for £1,297,663 and looks a complete player than what he was when he first made the breakthrough for team India.

Upcoming talent in Australia is being wasted by Cricket Australia letting talented youngsters off the hook by permitting them to play in the cash rich BCCI-IPL T20 domestic tournament. The only thing beneficial that the tainted Lalit Modi did for BCCI,was trapping these innocent youngsters- which worked in India's favor in the ICC-CWC 2011.Hats off Mr.Modi for pulling off another fantastic coup d'état!!

I'm not sure if there's a point to this story but I'm going to tell it again.

I've been wilfully caught up in the self-defeating quest to get to know myself for years. I've never expected anything beneficial to result from such a quest. I tend to evoke extremely polarised reactions from people I get to know in passing. Consequently, only those people who know me inside-out would honestly claim that I'm a person who's just "alright." It's not a coincidence that the description I've laid out above has no fewer than, title included, eleven references to me (make that twelve). I'm affectionately referred to as "Ego." I think that last statement might have given away a tad too much. Welcome Aboard.
